Opto-electronic Properties of Polymer Single Crystals
PhD Thesis
The central goal is to prepare large single crystals of conjugated polymers based on self-seeding and as a function of crystallization conditions. Experimentally, the main challenges will be to identify the appropriate seeding and growth conditions for obtaining large single crystals. Morphological characterization of polymer single crystals will allow to evaluate the influence of changes in intermolecular interactions on nucleation and growth. Besides microscopically resolved optical characterization (birefringence) we will also use spectroscopic tools (absorption and emission of light) and measurements of charge transport for determining anisotropic opto-electronic properties of polymer single crystals.
